Juventus fans comment on Matthijs de Ligt’s performance in Senegal-Netherlands and seem to be pleased that the club dropped the Dutchman to sign Gleison Bremer last summer.

De Ligt pushed to leave Juventus and Bayern Munich eventually wrapped up a €77m deal with the Old Lady, including add-ons.

The Serie A giants drafted in Bremer from their city rivals Torino for €50m, including bonuses.

De Ligt started in the Netherlands’ defence against Senegal, but his performance was unconvincing despite a 2-0 victory.

Senegal had several chances to score, with the Dutches’ defence looking vulnerable for long parts of the game. De Ligt didn’t put in one of his best performances prompting many Juventus fans to praise their club for selling him.

Many highlighted the fact that Juventus didn’t only bring in a stronger defender but also made a profit with the two deals, while others remembered that Juventus directors had been criticised during the summer but were eventually proved to be right.

Bremer has earned a call-up to Brazil’s national team for the World Cup and although it is still too early to give a final verdict on his spell at Juventus, the early signs have been promising with one goal in 16 appearances in all competitions.
