Brazil doctor Rodrigo Lasmar confirmed that Juventus full back Alex Sandro has suffered a hip injury.

The 31-year-old left back played the full 90 minutes of the Selecao’s World Cup opener against Serbia and was on the pitch for 86 minutes of their win over Switzerland before coming off for Alex Telles. Whilst Alex Sandro has struggled to show his best with Juventus this season, his work with Brazil proves that he’s still capable of playing at the highest level.

Speaking via Calciomercato.com, Lasmar first discussed the physical condition of Juventus’ Alex Sandro.

“Alex Sandro felt pain in his left hip and was unable to continue the match. He was re-evaluated this morning. We had an MRI scan that showed a muscle lesion at the left hip.

“He will not be able to play in the next game against Cameroon and will continue to be treated so that he can recover as soon as possible.”

The Brazil team doctor also gave an update on the conditions of Danilo and Neymar.

“They are still recovering from their ankle injuries, each with a different approach, as they are different injuries. This is important to underline.

“Neymar had an episode of fever which is now under control and this does not interfere with the ankle recovery process.

“In our daily meeting with the technical staff, we said that these three athletes will not be available for our next game against Cameroon.”

Brazil are one of the favourites to win the World Cup in Qatar and they’ll be desperate to recover all three players ahead of the Round of 16, which kick off on Saturday December 3.

The 31-year-old Alex Sandro has made 38 caps and scored two goals since his Brazil debut in November 2011.
