Wolfsburg are said to have offered Roma €25m for their striker Mattia Destro, also of interest to Tottenham.

According to Sportitalia, the impressive proposal has come in from the Bundesliga club.

It also includes wages worth €3.5m per season for the 23-year-old centre-forward.

The Giallorossi do likely need to sell in order to balance the books after spending big on the transfer market this summer.

While Adem Ljajic had been the favourite to move on, it’s possible this huge bid will make them sacrifice Destro instead.

The striker spent much of the last two years on the treatment table with a persistent knee injury, but when fit scored 13 goals in just 20 Serie A games.

Destro has also been linked with Tottenham and his former club Inter, where he came up through the youth academy.

Sportitalia claim Wolfsburg are eager to bring an Italian flavour to their attack and also made an offer for Milan’s Giampaolo Pazzini, but that was rejected.
