There are mixed reports on whether Nicolò Zaniolo will play for Roma again this season after snubbing a transfer to Bournemouth in the Premier League.

The Italy international has tried to force his Stadio Olimpico exit in January but rejected an offer from Bournemouth, the only club that had made a suitable bid for the Giallorossi.

Il Corriere dello Sport reported on Friday that Roma owners threatened the 23-year-old wouldn’t play for the team again if he had snubbed a move to Bournemouth.

Today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport confirms the club is ready to take action against Zaniolo who was not included in the team for last week’s 2-0 win against Spezia and won’t be involved against Napoli on Sunday.

According to the pink paper, Zaniolo could be fined or frozen out of the team.

Sky Sport Italia is unsure whether Roma can actually take action against their player, highlighting that freezing out Justin Kluivert in the past didn’t help Roma sell the Dutch winger.

José Mourinho said last week that he’d count on Zaniolo if he had stayed beyond January.

The Special One will preview tomorrow’s game with Napoli and presumably answer questions about Zaniolo at a press conference at 14.30 GMT today.
