Will Milan handle the pressure in Serie A title race?

Milan host Bologna at the Stadio Meazza tonight, following Inter and Napoli‘s victories yesterday. Will the Rossoneri handle the pressure?

Stefano Pioli looked quite confident during yesterday’s pre-match press conference, where he said his lads have the fate in their hands. If Milan win the remaining eight games, they will be crowned Serie A champions for the first time in more than 10 years.

The Rossoneri saw Napoli join them on top of the table thanks to a fundamental 3-1 win over Atalanta yesterday, while Inter beat Juventus at the Allianz Stadium. Simone Inzaghi’s men are now three points off the top of the table.

Milan’s fixture list before the end of the season is perhaps not the easiest one. They will visit Torino next weekend before facing Lazio (away), Fiorentina (home), Verona (away), Atalanta (home) and Sassuolo (away).

Napoli have also a few tricky games ahead as they will host Fiorentina and Roma in the next two games. They will then visit Empoli and face Sassuolo (home), Torino (away), Genoa (home) and Spezia (away).

On the other hand, Inter will meet Verona at San Siro in the next Serie A fixture and then Spezia (away), Roma (home), Bologna (away), Udinese (away), Empoli (home), Cagliari (away) and Samp (home).

The match against Bologna is the one that was rescheduled on Monday following a COVID outbreak at the Stadio Dall’Ara.

As Pioli said, Milan have their fate in their hands, but their opponents are so close that any mistake from the Diavoli would see their opponents pounce on them. The Scudetto race is wide open and although it all depends on Milan, Pioli’s men will need to handle the pressure in the last few games of the season.

Despite the guidance of veteran Zlatan Ibrahimovic, many Rossoneri have never won a piece of silverware in their career. Will they still manage to go all the way through and bring Milan on top of Serie A football?
