Timothy Weah is set to join Juventus from Lille, but his transfer won’t necessarily hurt the feelings of his father, George, a Milan legend, who has repeatedly said he supports the Bianconeri.

The legendary Liberia forward spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport earlier this week, saying he’s always supported the Bianconeri.

“I’ve always been a Juventus fan. I fell in love with the club thanks to Platini and if you ask me which club I’d always wanted to join, I’d say Juventus. However, Monaco was always my first footballing family, and Milan was the second,” he said.

“Hopefully, Thimothy will play in Serie A one day. Every Italian fan and club has always respected me and this has remained in my heart.”

Timothy is now set to join the Bianconeri on a €12m deal from Lille. The Serie A giants only need to finalise the latest payment details before completing a transfer which would see Weah Jr. become the second USMNT international play for the Bianconeri after Weston McKennie.

George Weah had already revealed he was a Juventus fan in 2017 in an interview with French paper L’Equipe. This past February, Weah also shared a video on Instagram where he was seen wearing a Juventus tracksuit.

Weah has been serving as the President of Liberia since January 2018.

He played for Milan from 1995 to January 2000, scoring 58 goals in 147 matches and winning the Ballon d’Or in 1995.

During an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport earlier in June, ex-Milan director Ariedo Braida said Weah cut his wages to join Milan from PSG.
