Harry Winks left Tottenham for Sampdoria on loan in the summer but he still hasn’t made an appearance yet for the Blucerchiati.

The 26-year-old English midfielder slipped down the hierarchies in North London after the arrival of Antonio Conte last year, having a consistent spell of minutes at the start of 2022 before being relegated to the bench, being stuck with cameo appearances at the end of games. At the end of August, Winks joined Sampdoria on a season-long loan deal with a €20m buy option attached.

Over a month after his arrival, Winks still hasn’t made an appearance yet for Sampdoria, something coach Marco Giampaolo was asked about in a press conference last month. Discussing the Englishman, the Blucerchiati coach said: “Ask the doctor, I’ve seen him for half a training session and then never again, unfortunately.”

The 26-year-old Winks is dealing with a niggling ankle injury, leaving him sidelined in the North West of Italy. He’ll be hoping to overcome this and make his Sampdoria debut at some point before the World Cup break in mid-November.
