Nicolo Zaniolo’s future with Roma is still shrouded in doubt and should a summer move occur, Tottenham could quickly become the favourites over Juventus and Milan.

The 22-year-old Italian forward’s entourage is currently in talks with the Giallorossi regarding a contract renewal and things have stalled as the player pushes for a deal worth €6m net per season, putting him on par with the highest earners at the club. With his current contract expiring in 2024, this summer could be the right time to cash in on the 22-year-old.

Juventus and Milan are both seriously interested in signing Zaniolo this summer but neither club can afford to buy him outright from Roma, meaning they’re both looking to include a number of players in a deal, with candidates ranging from Weston McKennie and Moise Kean to Alexis Saelemaekers and Tommaso Pobega.

Tottenham, on the other hand, do not have this issue. Media reports today revealed that Spurs have received a £100m cash injection into the club from owners ENIC for this summer’s transfer window, meaning they have significant resources to play with.

Sporting director Fabio Paratici recently discussed the 22-year-old with the Roman club during a recent trip to the Italian capital and it’s likely that the North London side would become the favourites should they make a serious move for Zaniolo.
