Controversial Brescia owner Massimo Cellino has explained why he believes Sandro Tonali is the new Andrea Pirlo. “I’m rarely wrong.”
Tonali has been heavily likened to Pirlo, given the pair started their careers at Brescia, are both deep-lying playmakers and have similar hairstyles.
“It’s increasingly difficult to find Italians who play regularly, and that hurts our football and national team,” Cellino told RMC Sport.

“Serie B must invest in youth academies and young players. We must say ‘no’ to impromptu loans, which don’t help our young players.
“Pirlo and Tonali are similar in their hairstyle and qualities. What sets Brescia apart is that they want to build more structures to coach young players.
“Tonali is an alien. He’s only 18 years old, but he’s very unique in terms of maturity and balance.
“Having said that, we have several more talents, which we’ll see in Serie A in a few years.
I’m going out on a limb here, but I’m rarely wrong.”
