According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus director Federico Cherubini wanted to sign Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne in 2013, but the club decided against signing them.
Salah was playing for Basel at that time, while KDB was under contract with Werder.
According to the pink paper, Cherubini travelled to Germany and Switzerland many times to scout the talented duo.
Cherubini arrived at Juventus in 2012 and was one of the most trusted collaborators of the at-the-time CEO Beppe Marotta.
They are still on very good terms, but it was Fabio Paratici to pick Cherubini, suggesting his name to Marotta. Cherubini was in charge of Juventus’ youth sector when he arrived at the club and he was scouting young players for the Bianconeri all around Europe.
Among them, De Bruyne and Salah, who he reportedly suggested to sign in 2013, when they were 22 and 21, respectively.
However, Juventus decided against signing them, as they wanted to invest in players with more experience.
Salah eventually joined Chelsea in January 2014 before moving to Fiorentina and Roma.
De Bruyne signed for Manchester City in the summer of 2015 in a €76m deal.
