Roma did not manage to bring Davide Frattesi back to the Stadio Olimpico, but can still celebrate his transfer to Inter, as they will earn almost €10m from the sale.

The Giallorossi had been very close to bringing Frattesi back to his beloved hometown club last summer and then failed to agree terms with Sassuolo.

The midfielder had the first part of his medical this evening to complete a move to Inter, which will cost €27m plus €5m in various performance-related bonuses and ownership of striker Samuele Mulattieri.

Roma do not get their main, but can still have reason to be happy today, because they will pocket circa €9.6m from this deal.

When the Giallorossi sold their youth product to Sassuolo for just €5m in the summer of 2017, they retained a 30 per cent cut of any future transfer fee.

That would’ve given them a 30 per cent discount on his return, but instead is at least boosting their coffers.
