Marcel Buchel’s agent claims the Liechtenstein midfielder was passed up by Roma because “Amadou Diawara will be back next week.”
Buchel trained with Roma last week, in the hope of being given a short-term contract, but Alessandro Luci revealed Diawara’s imminent return and Gianluca Mancini’s ability to cover meant the ex-Empoli player was not needed.
“Diawara will be back next week, so Roma have decided to stay the way they are,” Luci told Tuttomercatoweb.

“In addition, there’s been an important response from Mancini so Giallorossi decided not to bring someone else in.
“At the time when Roma picked up yet another injury, I had the idea of talking to Petrachi. He showed interest in Marcel.
“We’re not disappointed. On the contrary, it was a good opportunity to train and understand where he is in terms of preparation.
“He underwent physical and athletic fitness tests for a week. The lad’s fine, he’s 28, he wants a new adventure and he could help various teams to make the difference.”
Former Manchester City and England man Jack Rodwell also trained at Trigoria but was similarly let go.
