Sky Sport Italia explains that Tommaso Pobega will replace Tijjani Reijnders in central midfield for Milan as Stefano Pioli wants to match Newcastle’s physicality in the middle of the park.

Pobega has made two appearances as a substitute so far this season and is expected to start his first game in 2023-24 against Newcastle today.

The Italian midfielder will replace Reijnders who has started every Serie A game for the Rossoneri so far this season. Sky Sport Italia’s correspondent Peppe Di Stefano explains that Pioli wants to match Newcastle’s physicality in midfield, so he will pick Pobega over Reijnders.

Pobega will cross paths with his former teammate Sandro Tonali who is expected to start for Newcastle at San Siro today.

Christian Pulisic is also expected to start on the bench for the first time since joining Milan with Samuel Chukwueze joining Olivier Giroud and Rafael Leao in a front three.
