Ademola Lookman and Samuel Chukwueze are expected to return to Atalanta and Milan respectively on Wednesday, following Nigeria’s loss to Ivory Coast in the Africa Cup of Nations final on Sunday, but Victor Osimhen will be back later than his compatriots.

Lookman is expected to arrive in Bergamo on Wednesday afternoon, while Chukwueze is due back at Milanello around midday, and could even take part in some of the team’s training session on the same day.

Osimhen, however, is expected back in Italy on Thursday now, which is still slightly earlier than what had been reported by various outlets in Italy on Tuesday afternoon.

According to reports from Il Corriere dello Sport and TuttoNapoli on Wednesday morning, Osimhen briefly returned to Lagos on Tuesday to clear his head after the disappointment of losing in the AFCON final, and to take care of a few personal matters.

His delayed return means that he is unlikely to feature for Napoli in their Serie A match against Genoa on Saturday afternoon.

Walter Mazzarri will instead be looking to bring him back into the pack for the Champions League Round of 16 clash against Barcelona next Wednesday, according to Wednesday’s reports.

Between Serie A matches and the Supercoppa Italiana in January, Osimhen will have missed nine competitive Napoli games by the end of the Genoa match on Saturday due to international commitments.
