According to the latest reports, Paolo Maldini has not yet signed a new contract with Milan because he wants guarantees of greater decision-making power within the club.

The Rossoneri are in a state of flux after the takeover from RedBird, although Elliott Management remain as minority shareholders and reports vary over quite how much power they will continue to have going forward.

Maldini and director Frederic Massara are only under contract until June 30 and the delay in signing new deals is starting to raise a few eyebrows.

The Corriere dello Sport newspaper maintains this is because Maldini wants guarantees of greater decision-making power within the club.

He has made such a good impression on new patron Gerry Cardinale, who repeatedly praised Maldini as the key figure in linking Milan’s past, present and future.

Maldini is looking to share or take over more of the duties from CEO Ivan Gazidis.

It is even suggested by the newspaper that Maldini wants to be a similar figure to Beppe Marotta at rivals Inter.

  1. This is how you guys write that Maldini refused to join Milan under Berlusconi because he wants Galliani`s role, and I can remember he received shot from all over the press back then, and years later he came out to denied that, you have started again, he wants Gazidiz `s job? you guys need to go get another job, you are pathetic.

If you say he wants to feel more important and included, you are right, but Paolo wanna Gazidis`s job, i dont think so, he is more modest and not as stupid as you guys.

  2. Gazidis has an arsenal dna approach but cheap good players turn them into great players and sell
Maldini has the winning dna of ac Milan buy smart , develop yes , but occasionally add a superstar . This is where they’re different both has the clubs interest at heart but maldini wants the romance of champagne football
Which is what I want too
