According to Sportitalia, Milan could get Renato Sanches from Lille for €20m, but the problems are related to personal terms including a clause for Premier League clubs.

It was reported the Rossoneri had made a late bid for the midfielder in the January transfer window and only failed to complete it because there wasn’t time to work out the personal terms.

Now Sportitalia transfer pundit Rudy Galetti explains just how complicated that would’ve been and still will be if they want to do a deal in the summer.

He suggests Milan could agree a fee with Lille worth just €20m, a bargain for the 24-year-old, whose contract in France runs to June 2023.

The big problem is that agent Jorge Mendes wants a salary worth €6m per season net as a starting point, plus his own rather large commission to broker the agreement.

Another element that does not sit well with Milan is the request to include a release clause that is valid only in case Premier League clubs come calling.

Sanches has 32 senior caps for Portugal already, in which he scored three goals.

  1. This will keep happening with Milan players and players we try to sign. No, the club should not be held to ransom but, we need to pay market value.

As for the PL club clause, after his last time in England, it would take a lot for any English club to try sign him. He was comical at times it was so bad. Good player, just not suited to that league it seems.

  2. Milan has made an exception for Ibra, and rightfully so, and they should make an exception for Kessie. He is simply that important. Hopefully pride is not what stops them from making Kessie a better offer. They are going to have to pay for a quality midfielder either way so why not keep one of the world’s best?

Dunnarumma held Milan ransom because he wasn’t worth what was being demanded. Kessie, however, is worth it. That’s not being held ransom, that’s a guy who has a personal career to ĺook after.

  3. Do you follow kessie whole story?
He said all that stuff, asking for 5m salary first. When milan gave him what he wants, he ask for 8m. World’s best? No, he is not. He is not kante by far

  4. a 6 millions salary plus a large broker fee plus EPL release clause!? ohoho.. such a ridiculous demand I see.. so he thinks Milan will be his stepping stones?? this is Milan we are talking about, not Atalanta or Fiorentina!! unless Milan sell him 2 years later with a big profit, I don’t see renato will come to Milan.
