Milan are working hard to convince Marcus Thuram to join the club on a free transfer but need to fight off serious competition from Paris Saint-Germain.

The 25-year-old French forward, who was heavily linked with a move to Inter in the January transfer window, is preparing to leave Borussia Monchengladbach on a free transfer this month, ending a four-year spell in the Bundesliga.

Both Milan and PSG are serious about Thuram. The Ligue 1 giants have already prepared a lucrative contract for the 25-year-old, a long contract worth around €7m net per season as well as rich commissions for his entourage, but the Rossoneri are confident of their chances.

As reported by Calciomercato.com’s Daniele Longo and Andrea Distaso, Milan are hoping to convince Thuram to join by highlighting his importance to the project in the Lombardy capital, promising a central role in Stefano Pioli’s squad. In Paris, the Frenchman would likely struggle for regular minutes due to their star-studded team.

Thuram is attracted by the idea of moving to Milan and the club are hoping that his interest will prove decisive, despite the larger figures offered by PSG.

  1. Renato and Batman all over again. Footballers will always pick more lucrative offers, especially whilst their stock is at its highest.
