According to reports in Italy, Roberto Mancini didn’t like Stefano Sensi’s behaviour during the international break and could leave him out of the squad in October.

Sensi was ruled out of Italy’s World Cup qualifying match against Lithuania yesterday as he had sustained a slight calf issue on Tuesday.

He returned to his club Inter the day after, but he reassured the Nerazzurri fans with an Instagram story where he wrote: ‘I am feeling ok guys, I have nothing, we’ll meet at the Stadium on Sunday. Forza Azzurri.’

According to Il Corriere della Sera and Calciomercato.com, Mancini is not impressed with the midfielder’s attitude and could omit him from the Azzurri squad for the next international break in October.

Speaking at his press conference after Italy’s 5-0 win over Lithuania last night, Mancini claimed he ‘had not read’ Sensi’s Instagram post and insisted the midfielder wasn’t eligible to play.

Sensi wasn’t the only player to leave the Azzurri training camp over injury concerns ahead of the match against Lithuania.

Federico Chiesa, Nicolò Zaniolo, Lorenzo Pellegrini, Marco Verratti, Emerson Palmieri, Ciro Immobile and Lorenzo Insigne also returned to their clubs before yesterday’s match.

6 thought on “Why Mancini could punish Inter midfielder Sensi”
  1. @Token Bubble I hear you but disagree somewhat.

Firstly, the article is dealing with an injury prone player which has been troublesome for Inter the last 2 seasons. Then what he posts on social media directly contradicts the communications from the Italia camp.

Maybe Sensi did it just to reassure fans that he will be ready in time for the weekend clash v Samp. However, making it seem as though he wasn’t even injured in the first place doesn’t exactly come across well (imho). But just my perspective. we can agree to disagree.

  2. Well, tell us all something we don’t know Football Italia! Why waste more column inches on that injury prone over rated fool Sensi.

  3. Why after a great victory over Lithuania last night are we wasting our breath on Sensi? You have guys like Raspadori and Calabria, who are more worthy of collumn inches.

  4. Sensi is a walking band-aid. Most likely he realizes this and had a little knock which for him meant “nothing…I’ll be fine for the next Inter game”. But he left things open to interpretation which makes Mancini look bad. So Sensi should have been more direct with his social message post (like, “yes I have a little niggling injury but should be fine in a few days with therapy”. In any case, Sense will not be a regular in the Italian line-up. Not only is he too fragile, there are at least 8 midfielders way better than him: Pellegrini, Jorghino, Verrati, Zaniolo, Castrovilli, Cristante, Barella, Pessina. And outside of Verrati and Zaniolo, less injury prone.

I totally disagree with you bro. Only verrati, pellegrini and jorghino can match sensi. Far better than barella, what a shame! injury is killing his career. He so elegant on the ball and can shoot from distance. Do you notice barella performance in last few months. His last best game was against Turkey euro 2020. Sensi will outshine barella soon.
