After some doubts, Lautaro Martinez agreed to the terms of a new long-term contract with Inter, ready to sign a lucrative five-year deal.

The 26-year-old Argentinian forward has grown into a key player for the Nerazzurri since his arrival back in 2018 and was named the Serie A MVP for the 2023-24 season following his crucial work in the club’s charge to their 20th Scudetto.

With a contract expiring in June 2026, Inter began to prioritise a new contract for Lautaro Martinez following the end of the season and reports quickly detailed a gap between the club’s offers and his requests. After some doubts and rumours, he accepted their offer, willing to commit another five years in the Lombardy capital.

Lautaro Martinez commits to Inter

La Gazzetta dello Sport details how Lautaro had a long list of reasons behind why he decided to accept Inter’s five-year contract offer, worth around €9m net per season plus add-ons.

The first is his and his wife Agustina’s happiness in the Lombardy capital, having built their life in the city of Milan. Their child Nina has already started to attend nursery and his wife has set up a restaurant in Brianza, with the family laying their roots in the local area.

Another key factor was his central role at Inter; Lautaro has grown into a talismanic figure for the club and is a beloved figure amongst supporters, regularly being stopped by fans for photos and quick chats in the streets of Milan.

He was unhappy with the suggestions of greed during the contract negotiations and made it clear to his agent Alejandro Camano that he wanted to extend his stay with Inter, keen to show his love to the club and their fanbase.
