Juventus have reportedly reached an agreement to extend Paulo Dybala’s contract, but the player’s agent has postponed his return to Italy, so the Argentinean striker hasn’t yet signed a new deal.

Dybala’s contract runs out in June 2022, but according to multiple reports in Italy, he has reached an agreement to extend his stay at the club until 2026.

Dybala will earn €8m-a-year plus €2m add-ons, becoming the second-highest earner in Turin after Matthijs de Ligt who gets €8m-a-year plus €4m add-ons.

The striker’s agent Jorge Antun was supposed to return to Italy in November to put pen to paper on Dybala’s new deal, but he hasn’t returned to Turin yet.

According to Calciomercato.com and La Gazzetta dello Sport, there are some bureaucratic details to fix, while Tuttosport reports Dybala’s recent injury and Juventus off the pitch matters have postponed the official statement from the club.

The Turin-based paper reports that sources close to Dybala and Juventus assure the deal is done and the player will soon sign a new contract.

However, according to SportMediaset, Dybala’s future is still up in the air because the Bianconeri are no longer convinced to offer the striker so much money, in a moment where they are trying to lower their wage bill.

Every other Italian outlet ensures Dybala will sign a contract extension in the coming weeks.

The 28-year-old joined Juventus from Palermo in a €40m deal in 2014.

He has scored 107 goals in 268 games with the Bianconeri.

4 thought on “Why Juventus haven’t announced Dybala’s contract extension yet”
  1. Because its one of worst 10 numbers in history and he is worth not 12mln but 6 at most, if signing and keeping him its will be another huge mistake

  2. He is, literally, Juve’s most technically gifted player. However, he does not have big match temperament. His shoulders sag in the big matches. And that, is what is continuously in the back of the minds of the directors……
