Juventus and Napoli both had good reasons to postpone their Serie A clash and agreed to the April 7 date by mutual consent.

The game was originally meant to be played in Turin in October and was called off due to COVID cases at Napoli, prompting a travel ban.

After a series of legal verdicts, it was eventually confirmed that the match would go ahead and it had been set for March 17.

The game was originally meant to be played in Turin in October and was called off due to COVID cases at Napoli, prompting a travel ban.

After a series of legal verdicts, it was eventually confirmed that the match would go ahead and it had been set for March 17.

However, yesterday the Lega Serie A announced that both clubs had asked for it to be postponed again to April 7.

Il Mattino newspaper explains why this change of date suited both Juventus and Napoli, whose schedules have now opened up following elimination from Europe.

Napoli would’ve had three consecutive away fixtures against Milan, Juventus and Roma in seven days during a period where the injury crisis is still weighing heavily on the squad.

This delay will also allow Juve to decompress and shake off the tension from their shock Champions League Round of 16 exit to Porto.
