Simone Inzaghi prepares to face Manchester City for the Champions League and the Inter coach has a remarkable record in cup competitions, winning his last seven Finals.

They meet at the Ataturk Stadium in Istanbul on Saturday at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).

While Pep Guardiola and his men are the comfortable favourites, Inzaghi has a very impressive track record when knockout tournaments go all the way.

On the Inter bench, he has won both the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana for two consecutive seasons.

In his entire coaching career, Inzaghi has only ever played eight Finals and he won the last seven in a row.

His lone defeat was in the Coppa Italia against Juventus in May 2017, but gained revenge a few months later with a 3-2 result in the Supercoppa Italiana.

Lazio also won the Coppa Italia, beating Atalanta 2-0 in 2019, and took the Supercoppa again by beating Juventus 3-1.

The 47-year-old in general is far stronger in knockout tournaments, as only once did he fail to get beyond the group phase the Europa League, with Lazio in 2019-20.

He took the same team to the Europa League quarter-finals in 2017-18 and the Champions League Round of 16 in 2020-21.

While Antonio Conte famously struggled in the Champions League, in two seasons Inzaghi has taken Inter to the Round of 16 and the Final.
