Inter wing-back Denzel Dumfries was sent off after the penalty shootout in Argentina-Netherland, being involved in arguments with several South Americans, including his teammate Lautaro Martinez.

It was a busy match for referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz who used 16 yellow cards and showed a red to Dumfries after a penalty shootout.

The Nerazzurri defender was seen arguing with many Argentinean players, trying to make them lose their focus during the penalty shootout. He even had a go at his teammate Lautaro Martinez who converted the last penalty kick, allowing Argentina to reach the semis.

Several pictures and videos circulating on social media show Dumfries arguing with his opponents after a super-tense match at Lusail Stadium.

TalkSPORT commentator Ian Danter described the scenes lives last night: “There are still some angry Dutch players out there, Dumfries out there is still wanting words with some of those players,” he said.

“It’s looking rather unseemly out there.

“Dumfries is trying to go for one of the Argentinian coaching staff, what on earth is going on down there?

“In the midst of this the Argentina players are trying to celebrate, but Denzel Dumfries has lost his head down there.”
