Inter are without a main shirt sponsor in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Milan having suspended their deal with DigitalBits at the end of April.

Both Inter and Roma have recently suspended their deal with the blockchain company that failed to pay any of the instalments for the 2022-23 season.

The first €8m instalment was due to be paid in June 2022, the second in October and the final payment in February 2023.

“DigitalBits has not paid the basic fee of €24m in addition to not having paid bonuses to date for a total amount of €1.2m,” Inter said at the end of February.

However, the decision to suspend the agreement and remove the sponsor from the first team’s kits was taken a few months later.

The first time the Nerazzurri played without a main shirt sponsor was in a home Serie A match against Lazio on April 30. DigitalBits had released a press statement a day earlier, on April 29, responding after the suspension of their partnership with the Nerazzurri and Roma.

“Digitalbits foundation has undertaken a proactive process for the redefinition of partnerships that will involve the Digitalbits brand in the future, in line with the objectives of economic sustainability and use of blockchain technology.

“The sponsorship contracts regarding the exposure of the Digitalbits brand with the football teams Roma and Inter were concluded with Zytara labs. Digitalbits foundation represents the community and ecosystem aimed at promoting blockchain technology and its use.”
