Anatoliy Trubin played well in Benfica’s 1-0 loss to Inter in the Champions League, a club he could’ve joined in the summer transfer window.
The Nerazzurri were in the market for goalkeepers after the sale of Andre Onana to Manchester United and the retirement of Samir Handanovic.
Linked with a long list of options, Trubin was one player that Inter were reportedly keen on and they were in close contact with Shakhtar Donetsk to explore a possible deal.
As reported by Tuttosport via TMW, Inter were serious about Trubin but ultimately decided not to invest €20m into the 22-year-old, instead deciding to use that money on Benjamin Pavard and a backup striker, which turned out to be Marko Arnautovic.
Trubin ultimately moved to Benfica and performed well in their Champions League loss to Inter, saving seven of the eight shots faced.
Pavard also played well in the clash, completing 52 passes and remaining defensively solid.
