Leicester City are continuing negotiations with Inter for Stefano Sensi, as there are several issues still holding up the deal.

The midfielder was on the bench for last night’s Serie A win over Fiorentina and it was assumed he would be flying out today for his medical, but there is still progress to be made.

According to Calciomercato.com, one of the sticking points is that Inter need to get €3m from the sale in order to balance the books, otherwise Sensi’s exit will cost them money overall.

He was purchased from Sassuolo for a total €27.2m, initially on loan in 2019 with an obligation to buy, and his current contract only runs to the end of the season.

With a player whose contract is running down, he could still technically go out on loan so long as there is an obligation to buy written in.

Leicester City seemingly want this to be a six-month loan for €500,000 with an obligation to buy for a further €2.5m in case of promotion to the Premier League.

Technically, it could be done, as the EFL Championship Play-Off Final is on May 26 and his Inter contract expires on June 30.

They could potentially agree a sale for €0.5m with bonuses of €2.5m for promotion to the Premier League too.

There is time until the transfer deadline in England, which is on February 1 at 11pm.
