Kylian Mbappé said former Inter defender Achraf Hakimi is the best right-back in the world, but a stat suggests Robin Gosens can have the same impact at San Siro, although on the opposite flank.

Hakimi spent one season at Inter before joining PSG in a €75m deal last summer.

The Morocco international has three goals and as many assists in 25 appearances with PSG this term.

He scored the winner in Morocco’s 2-1 victory over Malawy in the Africa Cup of Nations Round of 16 yesterday and his teammate Kylian Mbappé praised him on social media.

Inter have replaced Hakimi with Denzel Dumfries who has three goals and five assists in 26 appearances with the Nerazzurri.

Inter are now on the verge of signing Robin Gosens with Atalanta. The Germany international has been one of the best full-backs in Serie A over the last few seasons and a stat suggests he can have the same impact as Hakimi at Inter.

Hakimi, Gosens and Milan’s Theo Hernandez are the only defenders to have contributed to at least nine goals in the opening 21 Serie A games in the last 15 years.

Gosens has been forced to the sidelines with a thigh injury and will return to action in mid-February.

He played his last Serie A match on September 25 and has collected eight appearances across all competitions this season.

6 thought on “Why Gosens can have the same impact as Hakimi at Inter”
  1. Hate to admit this, but this is a great signing for Inter, bargain price too. Another coup for Moratta

  2. Always good bolstering the squad. Especially if compatible with Dumfries making runs in front of the back formation. Then there’s Darmian and D’ambrosio. Hopefully none of these great lads needs to leave.

  3. Even Dumfries is turning out into a great signing after a period of adjustment and only for 15 million to boot. Juve were truly mad to let Marotta go.

  4. The fact that Atalanta dropped the asking price from $40M to $25M for a direct rival, tells me that they were concerned by Gosen’s latest injury and his poor injury record in the last two seasons. He will now become Inter’s medical problem and at least Atalanta make $25M out of him before he is totally broken. Atalanta are no dummies.

  5. Also telling that the pub team of Europe and thrashed club of CL finals since 1996 were left napping again. I guess back, back, down, down, chest it in your own box, sideways Sandro is still tried, tested and proven on the biggest stage. Maybe Vlahovic can play help fill the many gaps in the squad after all he will get no service from Sandro who last a made a decent cross 7 years ago.

  6. Frankie

Just because that clown club of yours, clownrubentus overpays for almost any players in the history of football does not mean others are stupid to do the same

and of course you fan and your club would know a thing or two about injured players. Ask Ramsey and Dybala

And clearly reading is not your forte, Gosens is undergoing medicals. We will know if he will be another Dybala or not but at least we wont pay him 7 mil and 10.5 mil

This is so awesome and I’m loving it
