Barcelona submitted a concrete offer for midfielder Sofyan Amrabat but it was quickly rejected by Fiorentina.
The 26-year-old Moroccan shot to prominence in Qatar, being a key factor in the Atlas Lions’ historic run to the World Cup semi-finals. Amrabat impressed throughout the tournament and attracted the attention of a number of clubs around Europe, who were keen to pick up the hardworking defensive midfielder.
As detailed by Gianluca Di Marzio, Barcelona approached Fiorentina on Monday and offered them a €4m loan deal with a €36m buy option attached for Amrabat, which was quickly rejected.
The Viola consider the player unsellable and had no interest in losing the Moroccan midfielder on loan, especially when an obligation to buy clause was not attached.
The 26-year-old did not take part in the Viola’s training session this morning but is not expected to leave Florence this month, with Fiorentina keen on retaining Amrabat until the summer at least.
Makes sense.
