Former Inter star Samuel Eto’o explains why he believes Jose Mourinho, now at Roma, is ‘the best manager in the world.’

Eto’o was part of the legendary Nerazzurri side that won the Treble in 2010, lifting the Champions League, Serie A title and Coppa Italia in the same season under Mourinho’s guidance.

The Cameroon international reunited with his coach at Chelsea in the 2013-14 campaign.

Speaking to JoySports, Eto’o was asked who he would choose as the best coach in the world and why.

“My best manager is Jose Mourinho,” said Eto’o.

“It’s also because he sees African players as the best. Mourinho believes so much in Africa and African players, and gives them that opportunity anytime. He was in Namibia recently for holidays as well.”

This is a subject close to Eto’o, as the 41-year-old former striker is now President of the Cameroon Football Federation and has been since December 2021.

His nation is preparing for the 2022 World Cup, to be played in Qatar in November and December.

Eto’o hung up his boots in 2019 after playing for Qatar SC, Konyaspor, Antalyaspor, Sampdoria, Everton, Chelsea, Anzhi, Inter, Barcelona, Real Mallorca, Real Madrid, Espanyol, Leganes and Kadji Sports.

  1. Susy, you failed to mention that Eto’o won 3 CL titles, including 2 in a row on different clubs, an Olympic gold, and 2 Africa Cup of Nations. He is a legend!
