With Tottenham securing a deal with Villarreal for Arnaut Danjuma, Milan may have less competition to sign Nicolò Zaniolo from Roma.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Spurs have hijacked Everton’s bid to sign Danjuma from Villarreal and that the player is already on his way to London to undergo his medical with the Premier League side.

Danjuma, 25, is a versatile striker who can play as a left winger, attacking midfielder or centre forward. It’s perhaps not a coincidence that Tottenham had been in talks with Roma for Zaniolo, who can cover the same positions in the final third.

It remains to be seen if Fabio Paratici’s move for Danjuma means Spurs have dropped the Italy international who wants to leave Roma in January.

Milan are also interested in the 23-year-old who was not included in the Giallorossi’s squad for their away game to Spezia last weekend.

Nevertheless, Milan don’t want to spend more than €22-25m to sign Zaniolo and are interested in a loan deal with an option or obligation to buy linked to their Champions League qualification. Roma seek a permanent €40m transfer but may accept a loan with an obligation to buy linked to easier targets to reach.

The Rossoneri may have less competition for Zaniolo now that Danjuma is on the verge of signing with Tottenham, but they still need to reach an agreement with the Giallorossi if they are to sign the exciting 23-year-old.
