Roma sources quoted by Il Corriere dello Sport deny that Cristiano Ronaldo will move to the Stadio Olimpico in the summer.

The former Juventus striker is considering leaving Old Trafford and both Roma and Sporting CP had been linked with the Portuguese superstar.

However, Roma sources quoted by Il Corriere dello Sport deny that CR7 will join the Giallorossi.

First of all, his €23m-a-year salary is unaffordable for Roma, even if Ronaldo halves it. Having left Juventus only one year ago, the Giallorossi would not be able to use the growth decree and get a 50% discount on the player’s gross wages.

Ronaldo wouldn’t play the Champions League in Rome, which is why he is considering leaving Old Trafford.

Last but not least, his poor relationship with José Mourinho makes it impossible to see him wear the Giallorossi shirt.

The Portuguese boss and the striker could fix their rapport in Rome, as Mourinho did with Henrikh Mkhitaryan last season, but having two charismatic personalities in the dressing room could be risky for the club.
