Why Cardinale’s visit to Milan is a good omen ahead of the Champions League quarter-final

RedBird Capital owner Gerry Cardinale is expected to arrive in Milan in the coming hours to oversee the Rossoneri’s battles both on the pitch and in the boardroom.

The executive will be conducting business in regards to the ongoing negotiations over a proposed new stadium in the city of Milan.

Cardinale will be in attendance for the Rossoneri’s upcoming Champions League quarter-final first leg against Napoli at San Siro on Wednesday evening, which could be a good omen for Stefano Pioli’s side.

As per Calciomercato, Milan have always won when Cardinale has been in attendance at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Their run of victories under Cardinale’s watchful eye include the 3-2 Derby della Madonnina win over Inter last year, as well as both the 2-0 Serie A win over Juventus in October and the 1-0 win over Tottenham in the Champions League Round of 16.

Milan will be hoping to build on their successful campaign in Europe, which, at this stage is already their best result in the Champions League in 11 seasons.

Kick off at the Giuseppe Meazza is at 20.00 UK time on Wednesday 12 April.
