Arsenal have reportedly made a doomed bid for Italy international Sandro Tonali, a life-long Milan fan expected to extend his contract with them soon.

According to The Mirror and TVPlay, the Gunners made an approach to ask after the midfielder.

The 23-year-old has not the slightest intention of leaving San Siro, as he has always supported the Rossoneri and jumped at the chance to join them from Brescia in 2020.

He was instrumental in their first Serie A title victory in 11 years and his price-tag is well above €50m at this point.

While Milan are going to be top seeds in the Champions League draw, Arsenal are only in the Europa League yet again, limiting their draw on the transfer market.

His current contract with the Diavolo runs to June 2026, but he is widely expected to sign a new deal increasing his salary to €3.5m per season plus bonuses.

This is because Tonali was so desperate to join Milan, he accepted a pay cut to push the deal through.

“Reducing my salary for Milan was the least of my concerns, just as the renewal will be, because what’s certain is that I want to be here, contract after contract,” Tonali told DAZN in May.

7 thought on “Why Arsenal won’t tempt Tonali from Milan”
  1. Love Tonali and his attitude. Taking a pay cut to play for a bigger club says it all about his desire. Hope Milan pay him what he’s worth now and keep the EPL vultures at bay.

  2. As a Juve fan, I am glad to see that he is staying with Milan. Hopefully Leao will do the same. Serie A clubs cannot let talents like him leave for 2nd rate EPL clubs.

  3. Tonali is 22, not 23 years old. So much journalism… back in topic, who would want to go to that circus called Arsenal?
