Davide Ancelotti will take over for his COVID-stricken father Carlo for Real Madrid’s Champions League clash against Chelsea tomorrow, a fact that has some fans concerned.
The 32-year-old Ancelotti started his career as a fitness coach with Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, following closely behind his father, before he was promoted to assistant coach in 2016 at Bayern Munich.
Whilst he was described as an honest, intelligent and sensitive person, some first team players were not the biggest fan of their head coach’s son, feeling that he was leading too many training sessions.
Concerns were also raised that he was too close to the players, often going out for dinner with them, leading some to suggest that he was looking for friendships rather than staying professional.
The younger Ancelotti oversaw Real Madrid’s 2-1 win over Celta Vigo on the weekend and he’ll be on the sideline at Stamford Bridge tomorrow as Los Blancos take on the Blues in the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 clash. Some fear that the inexperienced coach will not be able to handle the pressure in West London, but only time will tell.
