With Jose Mouinho’s future at the helm of Roma uncertain after reports that he could join Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, the Giallorossi have already begun to assess potential replacements if the Special One does decide to depart the Stadio Olimpico.

According to recent reports, which have been increasing in volume over the last few days, the Parisians are eyeing Mourinho as the successor to Christophe Galtier, who is set to depart after another underwhelming campaign in the Champions League. 

Mouinho had also been tempted to accept the position of head coach of the Portugal national team back in December. 

If he does leave Roma in the near future, the club are reported by Il Messaggero could consider making a move for Thiago Motta from Bologna, a coach who they had already assessed when Mourinho was linked with the Portugal job. 

According to the report, sporting director Tiago Pinto is also keen on two managers in the Liga Portugal, namely German coach Roger Schmidt, currently of Benfica, and 38-year-old Ruben Amorim of Sporting. 

Both have already developed a solid track record of working with young players and have equally impressed in European competitions with the resources available. 

Also on the dream list of candidates is one of the most sought-after coaches in the Italian game at the moment, Antonio Conte, however his wage demands are likely to be too high for Roma to consider as a realistic option.
