Milan announced today that the replacement for Ivan Gazidis as CEO is Giorgio Furlani, a former member of the board of directors.

La Gazzetta dello Sport details how the 43-year-old Milanese local spent 12 years as a portfolio manager for former owners Elliott Management, joining the company in 2010 in London. He helped finalise Li Yonghong’s purchase of Milan as well as the eventual Elliott takeover following the Chinese businessman’s departure.

Furlani is known to be a huge fan of Milan; his WhatsApp profile picture shows his children in Rossoneri kits and he rarely ever misses a match, watching the Champions League final in 2007 from a desert in Chile.

Since his appointment at Milan in 2018, Furlani has acted as a key point of reference for Elliott at the club, working alongside Gordon Singer in day-to-day business, everything from the transfer market to the new stadium and conversations with UEFA. Even though he joined Milan with the previous owners, new head Gerry Cardinale and the RedBird group have promoted him to CEO.
