Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni has included Inter youngsters Franco and Valentin Carboni in his squad, surprising many and leading them to ask, who are they?

Scaloni decided to call up the Inter Primavera duo to stop them from choosing the Italian national team; the pair have dual passports and both have made appearances for the Azzurri at youth level. They arrived in Italy in 2019 after their father Ezequiel was called over to work as a youth coach for Catania and the Nerazzurri quickly snapped them up.

The 18-year-old Franco Carboni is one of the most important players in the Inter Primavera squad, being a powerful and quick left back. He is known for his strong crossing, accurate free kicks and ability to charge into the box, although he needs to work on developing his defensive game a little.

Valentino is considered to be one of the new stars of Argentinian football, being a pure trequartista who likes to play with the ball at his feet, involving his teammates in play often. He has alternated between the Under-17, Under-18 and Primavera squads this season and he’s scored one goal and provided two assists in nine games. His left foot has been called magical and many in Argentina are excited to see him included in the squad.
