Milan, Juventus, Verona and Spezia are the Serie A clubs hit hardest by muscle injuries so far this season, while Sampdoria and Udinese are the less affected.
Serie A players have been struggling with injuries lately, even if the tendency seems to concern every European club. A Howden Group report quoted by Gazzetta Dello Sport highlighted injuries in Serie A raised by 20% in 2021-22.
Milan and Spezia (10), Juventus and Verona (seven) are the most affected teams in Italy this season, followed by Monza and Fiorentina (6), Roma and Salernitana (5).
The Gazzetta Dello Sport’s report only refers to muscle problems and does not include any other physical issues, such as ankle sprain or knee injuries.
Juventus star Angel Di Maria has already suffered three different muscle injuries this season, while Gleison Bremer was the latest Bianconeri player to be forced to the sidelines. He will remain out of action for circa 20 days.
Milan have been dealing with injuries to Sandro Tonali, Divock Origi, Mike Maignan, Theo Hernandez, Davide Calabria and Charles De Ketelaere, just to name a few.
Lazio have had four muscle injuries so far but are now sweating over the fitness of their star striker Ciro Immobile who was subbed off in their 0-0 draw against Udinese on Sunday. The Italy international will undergo a medical examination on Wednesday.
