There are growing concerns regarding COVID cases in Italy and four Serie A games are at risk, although Lega Serie A won’t postpone them.

Serie A resumes tomorrow but not all the games will be played. Salernitana have been ordered to go into quarantine by the local health authorities, so they will be barred from playing against Venezia.

The Granata have registered 11 cases and were banned from travelling to Udine for the last game of the year in December.

JuventusNapoli is at risk, with the Partenopei who have six players positive for COVID plus coach Luciano Spalletti.

The growth of cases is prompting the Naples ASL (local health authority) to consider ordering Napoli into quarantine, as it happened 15 months ago when the Partenopei didn’t travel to Turin for the same fixture.

Serie A games at risk due to COVID, Juventus-Napoli off again?

They were initially handed a 3-0 defeat by default and docked three points, but they won the appeal, so they had the point deduction revoked and the game was rescheduled.

Verona have eight players infected and Spezia four, so their match is a major doubt on Thursday as well.

Udinese announced seven players have tested positive and they are meant to be facing Fiorentina.

After three more COVID cases emerged in their team, Torino cancelled their training session yesterday. They currently have five players with COVID and they are supposed to play against Atalanta tomorrow.

Lega Serie A refuses to postpone games after COVID outbreaks

To date, Lazio are the only club without a COVID case.

However, Lega Calcio has refused to postpone Thursday or Sunday’s games due to a packed fixture list.

Nevertheless, if matches are abandoned they are likely to be rescheduled to another date as it already happened in the past.
