Seven Juventus players are currently not available for Sunday’s Serie A match against Inter, while Simone Inzaghi has three players out of action, but who could recover for the upcoming fixture at the Allianz Stadium?
La Gazzetta dello Sport gives an overview of injured Juventus and Inter players six days ahead of their meeting at the Allianz Stadium in Turin.
As of today, Weston McKennie, Hans Nicolussi Caviglia and Adrien Rabiot are the only central midfielders available for the Bianconeri, but Massimiliano Allegri hopes to recover at least one between Manuel Locatelli and Fabio Miretti.
Both players have returned to Turin during the international break and did not feature for Italy and Italy U21. Locatelli fractured his rib during Juventus’ latest Serie A game against Cagliari and it remains to be seen if he will be available to go at least on the bench on Sunday. Surely, he will be far from his best shape if he features against the Nerazzurri.
Miretti has been dealing with low back pain and seems more likely to recover than Locatelli.
The Bianconeri captain Danilo remains in strong doubt for the game against Inter, while Alex Sandro is expected to return to group training this week after spending two months on the sidelines with a muscle injury. The same is true of USMNT international Timothy Weah who has spent three weeks on the treatment table. Dean Huijsen has remained in Turin during the break to treat his low back pain and will undergo medical examinations this week.
Mattia De Sciglio will surely miss the game against Inter but could return to training in December, while Paul Pogba and Nicolo Fagioli are suspended.
Inter currently have three players out of action, but none is expected to feature against Juventus. Benjamin Pavard was diagnosed with a dislocated kneecap following a victory over Atalanta earlier this month and will spend several weeks on the sidelines.
Alessandro Bastoni has been forced to pull out of the Italy squad with a calf problem and will undergo further medical tests this week, but is unlikely to recover in time for the game against Juventus.
Former Bianconeri winger Juan Cuadrado has been dealing with tendinitis for the last two months and is not expected to be available in Turin against his ex-club.
