Genoa have admitted that they have no idea why Juraj Kucka is failing to live up to his performances of last season.

The Slovakian was a midfield revelation at Marassi following his January 2011 move from Sparta Prague in a €3.5m deal.

However, he struggled this time around and he’s scored just two goals in 11 appearances so far this term.

“Kucka is a real mystery to us,” Rossoblu sporting director Stefano Capozucca told Il Sussidiario on Wednesday.

“The player gave us great satisfaction last season, but he seems like a different man during this campaign.

“Perhaps having half of his contract bought by Inter didn’t do him good…

“We’ll talk to Inter to understand what is best for the player seeing as we both own his contract. We’ll look to understand a few things.”

Kucka, 24, is an international midfielder who was expected to head to San Siro in the summer of 2012.
