During his year in Turin, Maurizio Sarri recommended Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Juventus but his suggestion was ignored, reports suggest.

The 21-year-old Georgian winger has exploded onto the scene this season, being one of the most exciting players to watch in Europe as he dances on the Napoli wing, scoring seven goals and providing seven assists in 13 games across Serie A and the Champions League. Kvaratskhelia is emblematic of the electric play of Luciano Spalletti’s side and is proving to be a star.

As reported by Il Messaggero, Sarri recognised the talents of Kvaratskhelia back in 2019 and suggested that Juventus sign the Georgian winger, but his recommendation was ignored.

The Bianconeri’s hesitation wasn’t shared by Napoli, who swooped in this summer to pick up the 21-year-old talent for only €10m, a price that instantly looks like to be a bargain.

Sarri left Juventus in August 2020 and was replaced by Andrea Pirlo, who lasted a year himself before the return of Massimiliano Allegri.
