Lorenzo Pellegrini was forced off just 11 minutes after coming on as a substitute for Roma during their 4-0 win over Servette in the Europa League on Thursday evening, and recent examinations have revealed how long the Giallorossi is expected to be sidelined for.

The medical assessments that Pellegrini underwent over the weekend uncovered an injury to the flexors of his right thigh, which is expected to keep him out for a period of one month.

Pellegrini had come on against Servette as a half-time substitute, and it took him just seven minutes to find the net for Roma’s third goal of the evening. Four minutes later, however, he was seen limping off and heading for the tunnel.

Pellegrini will certainly miss the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and England for Italy, and it is also assumed that he will be absent for Roma’s games against Monza, Slavia Prague, Inter and Lecce after the break.

Almost exactly a month on from the Servette game will be the Derby della Capitale against Lazio, although it is yet to be seen whether Pellegrini will be fit enough to return to the pitch by then.

Injuries are now a cause for serious concern for Jose Mourinho and his team, who also lost Paulo Dybala to injury during the 4-1 win over Cagliari in Serie A on Sunday.
