Napoli have ramped up their interest in Torino centre-back Alessandro Buongiorno according to recent reports in Italy, and the Partenopei could potentially be in contact with the player’s current employers before the end of the week.
Giovanni Manna is thought to be a big admirer of Buongiorno’s, as is rumoured coach-in-waiting Antonio Conte according to reports from Calciomercato.com.
Napoli are looking to strengthen their defensive options ahead of the 2024-25 campaign, as senior figures within the club feel that they have not yet adequately replaced Kim Min-jae, who left for Bayern Munich shortly after the Serie A title win at the end of 2022-23.
Napoli interest and talks for Buongiorno
Calciomercato report that Napoli have already registered their interest in Buongiorno with the player’s agent, Beppe Riso, but they could make an initial approach to Torino in the coming days.
It is believed that Torino are looking for a transfer fee of €40m paid up front.
That figure wouldn’t necessarily be a major concern for Napoli if they decide to cash in on leading goalscorer Victor Osimhen this summer, which is what several outlets have been reporting over the last few days.
