Milan’s victory over Napoli takes them to their first Champions League semi-final since the 2006-07 season, when they went on to lift the trophy.

The Rossoneri will face the winner of Inter-Benfica in the final four stage, so they’ll be keeping a close eye on proceedings tonight as they hope for a tense but thrilling Derby della Madonnina tie.

Reaching the Champions League semi-finals mean Milan will earn at least €90m total from the competition this season, an important sum that’ll be vital for their summer transfer window plans.

Milan last reached the semi-finals of the Champions League in the 2006-07 season, when they faced Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United.

Under the guidance of Carlo Ancelotti, the Milanese outfit flew to a 5-3 aggregate win, with goals coming from iconic Rossoneri figures like Kaka and Clarence Seedorf.

Other players in the Milan squad in that tie include Paolo Maldini, Dida, Alessandro Nesta, Andrea Pirlo, Gennaro Gattuso, Filippo Inzaghi, Cafu and Massimo Oddo.

It was another vintage tie for the Rossoneri in the Champions League, and they went on to face Liverpool in the final, where they took revenge for their infamous defeat two years earlier to lift the title.

  1. So proud to say that I went to both legs. The 2nd leg remains one of the greatest days of my life.
