Mike Maignan has been out of action for almost three months but Milan are confident that their French number one will be ready to return soon.

The 27-year-old shot stopper was a key figure in the Rossoneri’s successful Scudetto charge last season, shining in his debut campaign in the Lombardy capital.

Maignan started this season in a similar vein of form, but a calf injury suffered in late September derailed his 2022-23 season and forced him to miss out on the World Cup in Qatar.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Maignan is not expected to take part in Milan’s upcoming friendlies against Arsenal and Liverpool but he may return to the pitch for the friendly with PSV on December 30.

The Rossoneri’s medical staff are confident that Maignan will be fit enough to start in the club’s opening game of 2023 against Salernitana on January 4.

Should the Frenchman remained on the sidelines, backup goalkeeper Ciprian Tatarusanu would be relied upon again.
