It has been confirmed that Milan midfielder Rade Krunic is set for a spell on the sidelines following an injury sustained during his side’s 1-0 win over Hellas Verona on Saturday afternoon.

The Bosnian was taken off 20 minutes into the second half of Saturday’s clash at San Siro after being spotted clutching his thigh in pain. Stefano Pioli immediately called for Ruben Loftus-Cheek to replace him.

Krunic was in for medical examinations on Monday morning, which, according to have highlighted a lesion to the right hamstring.

Monday’s report details that Milan will re-evaluate the situation in 10 days’ time, but the early indications are that Krunic will be ruled out for the next three matches against Cagliari, Lazio and Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

The international break follows shortly afterwards, but it is highly unlikely that Krunic will be fit enough to return before then. Instead, a more realistic return date is October 22, when the Rossoneri host Juventus in San Siro.

In Krunic’s absence, it has been suggested that Tijjani Reijnders could shuffle across the midfield to fill in, while Yacine Adli is also keen to make an impression according to Calciomercato.
