Juventus have been left impressed by Weston McKennie’s development over the last few months and will soon reward him with a new contract.

At one point, the American midfielder seemed destined to leave Turin after an uninspiring six-month loan spell at Leeds United, but after returning to Italy things began to change for the 25-year-old, who has now become a key figure for Massimiliano Allegri.

McKennie, who has entered the last 18 months of his contract with Juventus, has seen 1697 minutes of action across 21 matches this season, providing five assists in that time.

As reported by TMW, Juventus will sit down with McKennie and his entourage next month, after the closure of the mid-season transfer window, in order to start negotiating his new contract.

The plan is to offer the American midfielder a new deal lasting until 2027 with an option for a further year, and the same wages with new add-ons, confirming his future in Allegri’s squad.
