Leeds United coach Daniel Farke issued a brief update on the fitness of Italy international Wilfried Gnonto, who has recently been confined to the physio room at Elland Road.

The 19-year-old, who stayed on with Leeds in the Championship, despite reportedly having handed in a transfer request over the summer, picked up a serious injury to his ankle in a recent league clash against Hull City.

Gnoto had previously put in a series of impressive performances when called upon in the league, registering his first goal of the season in a 4-3 win over Ipswich.

However, Farke has since revealed that Gnonto is due to resume training with the rest of the first-team group after the upcoming international break, contrary to recent reports that he would have to wait until November to get back out on the pitch.

Gnonto’s potential return could provide a major boost to the Leeds team, as they are due to play fellow promotion hopefuls Norwich City in their first game back after the internationals on October 21.
