Inter have announced the termination of Christian Eriksen’s contract and his agent has claimed that it ‘still too early’ to talk about football.

Eriksen suffered cardiac arrest during Denmark’s UEFA Euro 2020 opener against Finland on June 12.

He received life-saving aid on the pitch and had a heart-starter device implanted a few days later.

Anyone with such a device is not allowed to play or train in Italy as any contact, or it would break it.

Over the last few weeks, Eriksen has been training in Denmark with his former club Odense.

A FIFA insurance covered Eriksen’s contract at Inter during the last six months.

“Christian is working on his fitness, like any other person who is going through what he experienced,” his agent Martin Schoots told Goal at the beginning of December.

Official: Inter terminate Eriksen contract

“When he is in Denmark, he can use the facilities of his former club Odense. Chris has a positive character, he is optimistic and full of energy, but it’s not yet the moment to talk about football. He will decide when it [his return] will happen.”

The Danish league is one of those where Eriksen would be allowed to play in the future, same as the Eredivisie or the Premier League.

Former Inter midfielder Khalilou Fadiga was diagnosed with heart disease upon his arrival to Inter in 2002 and never played in a Nerazzurri shirt, but continued his career in the Premier League.

Similarly, Daley Blind is playing for Ajax and the Netherlands and spent several years at Manchester United.

Eriksen hasn’t yet made a decision over his future and is still unsure whether or not he wants to resume his playing career.

If he wants to do so, he will be free to choose his next club after the end of his contract with Inter.
